On 8 of June 2024, the streets of Wrocław were filled with bright colours and sounds of music - the city was holding its annual Equality Parade. The event has become not just a celebration of the LGBT community, but also a platform for expressing support for different groups fighting for their rights and freedoms.

The joint stand of the organisation Belarusians of Wrocław and representatives of the Ukraine Foundation attracted special attention. Their participation emphasised the importance of inter-group solidarity and mutual support.

"We are here to remind those who are imprisoned for their beliefs in Belarus and those who defend their land in Ukraine," shared the Shelter coordinator. "The fight for equal rights is a fight for the dignity of every human being, regardless of their orientation, nationality or political views."

The activists did not limit themselves to information work. Each visitor to the stand was invited to create or receive a bracelet with flowers made of coloured paper - a symbol of unity and support. This simple but touching gesture quickly became one of the most talked about moments of the parade.

"By creating these bracelets together, it's as if we are weaving threads of understanding between different groups in society," said a Ukraine Foundation volunteer. "It's a small step towards a big change."

This year's Equality Parade in Wrocław was a vivid example of how different human rights movements can unite, amplifying each other's voices. The participation of representatives of Shelter and the Ukrainian Foundation emphasised the global nature of the struggle for human rights.

"Such solidarity actions are a crucial element in building a healthy, morally strong society," one parade participant summarised. "Today we didn't just march through the streets with flags - we took a step towards a more just and open world for all."

The parade has ended, but its message remains relevant: only by uniting, respecting the rights and freedoms of everyone, can we build a truly just society.
